A photo-readiness checklist after furnishing a rental

A room is ready for photography when the visible setup matches what guests will find. Use a readiness check to coordinate the installer, cleaner, owner and photographer before everyone arrives on site.

Confirm the finished inventory

Check furniture, lamps, bedding and practical accessories against the approved room list. Remove delivery packaging and temporary substitutes that will not remain for guest use. Record missing items that would change the room’s appearance or function.

Test the visible functions

Operate blinds, lights, drawers and convertible furniture. Confirm bulbs and controls work and the staged arrangement preserves circulation. Check mirrors, surfaces and textiles in the actual light rather than relying on a remote installation photo.

Prepare a truthful shot list

Show room relationships, storage and important amenities in addition to decorative details. Agree with the photographer which areas are finished and which require a later visit. Do not stage an amenity that is unavailable for the stay or conceal a material layout limitation.

Manage the published images

Track the image set by room and date. After a replacement or redesign, identify which images need updating across booking channels and the website. Keep the final selected set accessible to the person maintaining the listings.

A worked planning scenario

A hypothetical bedroom is styled before the window treatment arrives. The host records it as incomplete and decides with the photographer whether to postpone that room. A finished living room can be photographed without implying that every room is ready.
