Build an Amenity Checklist from Actual Guest Functions

Audit supplied amenities by arrival, sleep, dining, hygiene, work, storage, and outdoor use, with quantities and reset ownership.

Updated

An amenity checklist is most useful when it describes what guests can do and what the team can maintain. Instead of treating every popular product as essential, walk the intended guest journey and identify the items that make each promised activity work. Verify the operating capacity separately from the furnishing count.

Make the decision from the actual setup

Organize the checklist by arrival, sleep, dining, hygiene, work, storage, and outdoor use where offered. Record quantities, locations, product identifiers, and who resets each item. A coffee maker needs its supported accessories and instructions; a dining setup needs usable seats and table access. Include care and replacement support for supplied equipment.

Distinguish required operating and safety provisions from optional comforts, with the responsible professionals and manager reviewing applicable requirements. Do not use a generic list as proof of compliance. Keep the public description accurate about actual availability and avoid claiming that an amenity guarantees ratings, bookings, or a hosting status.

Worked planning example

Illustrative scenario: Examples, prices, quantities, and timing assumptions below are hypothetical; use actual product information and local quotes for your property.

Hypothetical four-guest audit: the property has four dining chairs but only two practical towel-drying locations. Adding appropriate hanging positions becomes a priority. A decorative game collection is postponed until storage and reset counts are defined. The outdoor area has two chairs and is described as a small sitting space rather than a group dining amenity.

Practical checklist

  1. List the guest activities the property actually promises and supplies.
  2. Record usable quantities, locations, care requirements, and reset owners by activity.
  3. Test complete setups rather than counting individual objects in storage.
  4. Review applicable operating and safety requirements through the responsible professionals.
  5. Reconcile the checklist, inventory, and listing with the installed and available provision.

Carry the decision into the handover

Repeat the audit after capacity changes, replacements, or recurring feedback. Remove unsupported amenities from the description through the normal operating process until they are restored. A dated checklist is useful, but a year in its URL does not make a static product list current. Keep the actual inventory and function checks as the working source of truth.
