25 Questions Answered

How does the MyBnBDesign process work from start to finish?

Our process has seven stages: consultation, design concept, mood board and revisions, furniture selection, procurement, delivery and installation, and final staging with photography prep. Each stage ends with a clear approval or handoff so you always know where the project stands. Most projects take six to ten weeks overall.

What happens in the initial consultation?

We discuss your property, target guests, budget, timeline, and goals, and review photos and floor plans. We also look at competing listings in your market to identify design opportunities. You leave with a recommended scope and a clear next step.

How long does the consultation phase take?

The first call usually takes 30 to 45 minutes. If we need measurements or additional photos, we can gather them over the next few days. Most owners receive a written proposal within a few business days of the call.

What do you need from me to begin the design?

We typically need floor plans or measurements, current photos or video, your budget range, and any style preferences. If the property is under construction or renovation, we also need finish selections like flooring and paint. We guide you through each item so nothing is overlooked.

What is the design concept phase?

This is where we translate your goals into a cohesive vision for the property, including style direction, color palette, key furniture pieces, and the guest experience we want to create. We consider layout, bed configuration, and flow. The concept sets the foundation for every later decision.

How long does the design concept phase take?

Concept development generally takes one to two weeks, depending on property size and the package you choose. Larger or more custom projects may take longer. We share a timeline during onboarding so you know when to expect each deliverable.

What is a mood board and why do you use one?

A mood board is a visual collage of colors, textures, furniture, and decor that shows how the finished property will look and feel. It helps you approve the direction before we purchase anything. It also keeps the project cohesive and prevents costly surprises.

Will I get to see the design before you buy anything?

Yes. Nothing is purchased until you approve the concept, mood board, and furniture budget. We present selections with images, dimensions, and pricing so you can review them clearly. Your sign-off is the green light for procurement.

How many revisions are included?

Essentials includes a limited number of revision rounds, Signature includes more, and Luxury offers the most flexibility. Each round lets you request swaps, color adjustments, or style changes. Extra rounds are available if you need them, and we will tell you in advance if a request affects cost or timing.

How do I provide feedback during revisions?

You can comment directly on your shared project board, send notes by email, or discuss changes on a call. Specific feedback such as liking a texture but wanting a lighter tone helps us respond quickly. We summarize each round so everything stays documented.

How do you select the furniture?

We choose pieces based on durability, comfort, style, lead time, and fit for your target guests. Every item is checked for size so it works in your actual floor plan. We prefer commercial-grade or STR-tested products because they hold up to frequent turnover.

Can I swap out pieces I do not like?

Yes. During the furniture selection phase you can request alternatives for any item. We will suggest options at similar price points and explain how the change affects the overall design. Once you approve the final list, we lock it in for ordering.

What is procurement?

Procurement is the process of ordering, tracking, and receiving all items on your approved list. We handle vendor communication, payment, order confirmations, and shipment tracking. This takes the heavy coordination work off your plate.

How long does procurement take?

Procurement and shipping usually take three to six weeks, depending on lead times for each item. Stock items arrive faster, while custom or imported pieces take longer. We order long-lead items first so the whole project stays on schedule.

How are the items delivered?

We consolidate deliveries to a receiving location or directly to the property, depending on what makes the most sense. For remote owners we coordinate with local contacts or a receiving team to inspect and stage shipments. You are updated as deliveries arrive.

Do I need to be at the property for delivery?

Not necessarily. We can arrange for a property manager, cleaner, or our own team to receive deliveries. If someone must sign for large freight, we plan the schedule with you. Remote delivery handling is one of the most common services we provide.

What happens during installation?

Our installation team assembles furniture, places rugs and lighting, hangs art, makes beds, and sets up kitchenware and decor according to the approved plan. Most properties are installed in two to five days, depending on size. We remove packaging and leave the property clean.

Who does the assembly and installation?

Experienced installers handle assembly and placement so everything is done correctly and safely. They follow the design plan precisely, including furniture layout and decor placement. This ensures the final result matches the concept you approved.

What is staging and why does it matter?

Staging is the final styling pass that makes the property photo-ready and guest-ready. It involves arranging pillows, setting tables, adding greenery, and layering decor so every room looks inviting. Great staging significantly improves listing photos and first impressions.

Do you help with photography?

We prepare the property for photography and can coordinate a professional STR photographer as an add-on. We also provide a shot list that highlights the spaces and amenities that matter most to guests. Strong photos are one of the biggest drivers of clicks and bookings.

What is the timeline for each phase?

Typical timing is one week for consultation and proposal, one to two weeks for design and approvals, three to six weeks for procurement and shipping, a few days for installation, and a day or two for staging and photography. Exact timing depends on your property and selections. We provide a project schedule at kickoff.

What happens if there are delays?

If a vendor delay occurs, we notify you right away, explain the cause, and present options such as an alternative product or adjusted schedule. We build buffer time into the plan to absorb common shipping issues. Our priority is protecting your launch date whenever possible.

What if an item arrives damaged?

We inspect deliveries, document any damage, and file claims with the vendor. Replacements are ordered immediately, and we propose temporary alternatives if the delay would affect your launch. You will not be left to manage the claim yourself.

Can the process be sped up?

In many cases yes. We can prioritize in-stock items, use local retailers, and run design approvals in parallel with early orders. Rush timelines may limit selection, so we will advise on the trade-offs before moving forward.

What happens after the project is complete?

You receive a final walkthrough with photos and video, a care guide for key items, and a list of everything installed. We remain available for questions and can help with restocking or future refreshes. Our goal is a smooth handoff so you can start hosting with confidence.
